Hey there! I am beyond blessed to be the wife of Mark Andrew and the stay-at-home-mommy of Quinn and Morgan! I love to decorate, create things, and generally make life more beautiful! Come join me, and let's see what we can make today!

Playing Catch Up

I would love to be able to create a new blog post at least two or three times a week, but I am in a season of life where that is just not possible.  However, just because I have not created a new post does not mean that I haven't tried any new projects!  Quite the opposite!!!  There is always SOMETHING going on around here!

In 2013, I am going to try REALLY hard to at least make a weekly post, and to only post quality pictures.  But, since I have a couple of months left in 2012, today's post is going to be filled with pics from my iPhone, totally unedited.  Cringe!  I have decided to cut myself some slack, and just resign myslef to the fact that I am probably not going to be able to create a post about even half of the things I make.  I do think, however, that it would be fun to at least show you some of the things I have done in the last few weeks.  Most of it is self explanitory anyhow!  Certainly, if you see something that you want more details on, just send me a note and I will get back to you!

Remember that Mixed Media Workshop I hosted back in August, at Graham's 318? Well, I was also their featured Artist of the Month, and I made tons of signs and really quirky art pieces.  I am still making signs and art, and I thought I would share a few of my favorite pieces.

Graham's 318 has had one of my pallet pieces (similar to the one above) on display over their mantle since August.  Everytime I go in there (which is often!!!), I am somewhat surprised to see it still there!  Well, you know how I like to change things up, and I figured 318 might like a change, too!  So I made them a more "fall-ish" pallet piece, and delivered it just before Halloween.  I LOVE the colors in this piece, and it looks really great against the brick!

That's literally just a few of the signs I have been making!

Here is a $0.99 lampshade from GoodWill that I upcycled with some scraps of burlap.  I really like how it turned out!

Also, it seems that I am painting something nearly every day!  I actually really like to paint, so I prefer to use a brush and a can of paint.  For small projects, though, spray paint is my favored route!  I found this picture and frame for $3.99 at GW.  I was going to paint the frame and do something else with the canvas.  Something like this, maybe.  But after I painted the frame, I thought the picture looked really cute and a bit whimsical in the frame, so I just left it!

And I cannot neglect to mention Halloween--especially after all the work I put into it!  Mo was a mermaid, and Q was a Lego ninja.

And I was a room mom at the elementary school, and one of the things I needed to bring was water for the snack.  (No juice at our school.  Too many allergies and too much mess if it spills.  Water only!)  But, you know me!  I LOVE details!  So Mummy Bottles it was!  (I just wrapped some white crepe paper around them and drew eyes on with a black Sharpie.)

And another HUGE project that my hubs and I have been working on is our "photo studio".  We get loads of requests for family photos (my husband does some professional photography as a hobby), especially this time of year.  Mark Andrew and I are trying to be very mindful of our shcedules, so scheduling photo sessions between work and our own kids schedules was just not going to be possible this year.  What we decided to do was set up a "studio" in our living room, and let people come to us.  This allows us to still use the skills we enjoy while helping other families without neglecting the needs of our OWN family.  I really am going to do a post on the studio, but I am having some technical issues today (read, I have no idea how to import this video on my own!), so I hope to have it done by the end of the week.  At any rate, here is crummy pic of the "walls" going up.  And, yes, I did put studs up over completely finished walls.  No big deal.  I don't like the paint color in the living room anyhow!

And this is a silly pic of me in a test shot, but MA thinks it's cute (and who doesn't want to be cute sometimes?!), so here it is!

And, last but not least, are the pallet projects I am working on.  Take a look at my garage.

It's hard to tell from the horrible pic (sorry!  2013 will hopefully bring better pics!), but there are 11 pallets stacked in there, along with a number of boards that have already been torn from other pallets, and there are a few large crates that need to be torn apart.  I also have seven pallets on the back patio.  And as soon as I have some of these cleared out, I will be needing more!  Crazy, right?  But I think you will like what I do with them...;)

That's what's been going on around here the last few weeks.  I hope to get the photo studio posted later this week, but since my shortest short person is having her tonsils and adenoids out this Friday, I might not get to it! If I am MIA for awhile, please just keep us in your prayers!

I'll be back as soon as I can!  Until then, enjoy the Son!
